Mark Bertrand currently serves at the Chief External Relations Officer at Life Unlimited. He’s responsible for overseeing external relations, fundraising, establishing donor relations, and managing grants and legislative efforts. He has experience working with boards/committees, managing staff, soliciting major gifts/individual contributions, grant writing, annual campaigns, and creating and coordinating special events has helped each of his previous organizations meet and increase their annual budgets. He helped double Literacy Kansas City’s and Liberty Hospital’s Foundation’s overall budgets by expanding their individual/major donors, corporate partners, and private foundation support for programs, allowing them to develop a consistent, reliable, and diversified funding base.
An alumni of the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance leadership program (formerly, American Humanics) and graduate of Missouri Valley College with dual bachelor’s degrees in recreation and human service, Mark has focused his entire career on service to the nonprofit sector. Prior to joining Life Unlimited, Mark served as Liberty Hospital Foundation and Literacy Kansas City’s Executive Director and worked in development for the American Stroke Foundation. Previously, he served as the local council Executive Director for Camp Fire of the Ozarks.
