Sandra

Sandra has been in our Community Living program for 22 years. Her favorite part about being with Life Unlimited is her independence. This September, Sandra took a once in a lifetime trip on an Alaskan Cruise with her brother. She saved up money to go on the cruise with her two part time jobs, McDonalds and The Manor Thrift Store. Their cruise was through Carnival and they went to six ports: Seattle, Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan, Victoria, and cruised the Tracy Arm Fjord.

Her favorite part of the cruise was eating crab legs in Juneau. Sandra loves cooking so she especially loved trying all the new foods while traveling. One of her favorite activities while at home is looking up new recipes on her computer and trying them out. One of her recent favorites is a homemade apple pie.   “I got t-shirts, postcards, and a free bracelet.” Sandra said when talking about shopping at the ports. One of the souvenirs Sandra brought home from the trip was a flash drive with a movie about the voyage on it, she likes to watch it and reminisce on her trip. Another one of her favorite parts about the cruise was seeing the wild animals, especially eagles and whales.

Outside of traveling, Sandra enjoys watching The Chiefs games on Sundays, doing crafts such as drawing and making crosses, and hanging out with her roommate and friend Elaine.
